On 1 December, WHO joins partners and communities around the world to commemorate World AIDS Day 2025, observed under the theme:
“Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response.”
This year’s theme calls for sustained political leadership, stronger international cooperation, and human-rights-centred approaches to ensure that the world stays on track to end AIDS by 2030.
After decades of significant progress, the global HIV response now stands at a critical crossroads. Life-saving services in many regions continue to face disruptions, and numerous communities are experiencing increased risks and vulnerabilities.
Yet, despite these challenges, there is enduring hope—rooted in the determination, resilience, and innovation of communities who remain committed to ending AIDS. Their leadership and continued engagement are vital in shaping an equitable, sustainable, and effective response.
