Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti is observed every year on October 2nd, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. On this day, India pays tribute not only to the Father of the Nation but also to Lal Bahadur Shastri, the country’s third Prime Minister and one of its most respected leaders.
Shastri Ji was admired for his simplicity, humility, honesty, and unwavering commitment to the nation. Despite his modest lifestyle, he stood tall as a leader who placed the interests of the people above all else. His tenure as Prime Minister, though short, was marked by decisive leadership during challenging times, particularly the Indo-Pak war of 1965. It was during this period that he coined the iconic slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan”, saluting the courage of soldiers and the hard work of farmers—two pillars of India’s strength.
Shastri Ji’s vision emphasized self-reliance, unity, and national pride. His contributions to agriculture, defense, and social harmony continue to inspire generations.
