Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year on 2nd October to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi (Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi), the Father of the Nation.
Mahatma Gandhi was born on 2nd October 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat.
He is remembered worldwide for his philosophy of truth (Satya), non-violence (Ahimsa), and peaceful resistance (Satyagraha).
His principles played a vital role in India’s struggle for independence from British rule.
Gandhi Jayanti is also observed globally as the International Day of Non-Violence, declared by the United Nations in 2007.
